• CCSD Course

  • I can’t log in to Canvas LMS.

When logging in to Canvas you use your Active Directory (AD) login/password. That’s the same username and password that are used to log in to any networked district computer.

    • Have you logged in this year on a networked district computer (not an iPad or Chromebook)? You have to log in and change your password in order for your account to work.
    • If you can’t log in to a district computer you may need your account enabled or your password reset. See your site’s computer tech for assistance.
    • If you need to change your AD password and don’t have access to a district computer, you can go to myaccount.ccsd.net and choose “Change Password.” Once you update your password you will be able to log in to Canvas with that username (student ID) and password (that you chose). The default password for students is your birthdate (yyyymmdd).
  • I can’t see my course or get in to the course.

    • Has the term started? The class won’t be available until the start of term.
    • Did you look in “All Courses”? The Dashboard in Canvas shows your starred courses so it may not show you all of your courses. Click on “All Courses” from your Dashboard or the Courses area.
    • If your term has begun but the course listed says that it’s unpublished you will need to contact your teacher.
  • I’m having trouble with some course content or assignment.

    • If you can’t get to a later module (grayed out) then you need to make sure you have completed all requirements to move on to the next module. If you look at “Modules” in the course, it will list the requirements and a checkmark as you complete them (view the page, submit the assignment, and so on).
    • If your course uses SoftChalk and you can’t see the “Finish” button you will want to try:
      • Verifying that your Java is up to date. You may verify by clicking here.
      • Updating your Java if it is not up to date. Click here to update it.
      • Clearing your browser’s cached files. For instructions on doing this in Firefox, click here. For Google Chrome, click here.
      • Using a different browser
  • I still have an issue.

Generally your first option is always to ask your teacher. They are responsible for the course in which you are enrolled.

If you are the teacher and need assistance, your first contact is your site’s Canvas Controller.
